Our Approach
Depending on the size of the project some of these steps can be combined or skipped
Compile Requirements
Meet with users and stakeholders and understand requirements, business problem, data and data sources.
Define the Story
Based on requirements and data, define the “story” for the visuals supporting the business problem it is solving.
Develop Data Model
Identify the fields, their sources, size of data and develop the appropriate data model that supports the reports – regular tables, dB views and/or Tabular cubes.
Develop Prototype
Develop a prototype of the visuals, validate it against the “story”, get user feedback and iterate this process to finalize the reports.
Develop ETL Process
Having identified the source for each field and built the data model, develop the Extract Transform and Load (ETL) programs for populating the data.
Develop Data Quality Controls
Define the data quality controls by identifying required fields, boundary values and trends to monitor. We will use these to build a Power BI Data Quality report to use during every data refresh
Operationalize the Solution
Develop the process to hand over the report to the operations team. This includes steps for (1) running the ETL (2) granting access (3) monitoring usage (4) monitory performance (5) user support and training.
